Louise A. (Cordeiro) Alfonse

NEW BEDFORD – Louise A. (Cordeiro) Alfonse, 82, of Fairhaven, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, after a long illness at the New Bedford Health Care Center in New Bedford. She was the widow of Manuel Alfonse.

Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Manuel and the late Julia (DaRoza) Cordeiro, she was a lifelong resident of the town and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven.

Mrs. Alfonse was a nurse’s aide at Our Lady’s Haven until her retirement. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and especially spending time with her family.

She is survived by a son, Joseph A. Alfonse and his wife Laurie of Acushnet; two granddaughters, Taylor and Ryleigh Alfonse of Acushnet; two brothers, Stephen Cordeiro of Fall River and Manuel Cordeiro of Marion; a sister, Helen Cordeiro of Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Alfonse was the mother of the late Barbara Gomes.

Funeral Information

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Alfonse’s remains were cremated, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at 9:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven.
