View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Gilbert White, 86, of Taunton, died in Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital, Brockton, on Monday, April 9, 2007, after a short illness. A lifetime resident of Taunton, he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Leal) White. He was the husband of Margaret (Neary) White. He was educated in the Taunton Public Schools and attended the Bristol County Agricultural High School.
Mr. White was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy in the Pacific theatre, under the command of Admiral Nimitz. He owned and operated the County Street Dairy Bar in Taunton for twenty-two years, following his discharge from the Navy. He was then employed for more than thirteen years as a groundskeeper for the Bristol-Plymouth Regional High School, retiring in 1986.
Mr. White was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church. He enjoyed golfing, raising flower and vegetable plants.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Carol Medeiros and her husband Francis of East Hampstead, NH, and Beverly Martin and her husband Frederick of Pittsbury, NH; two brothers, Enos White of Lakeville, Robert White of Hoschton, GA; two sisters, Mary Henrique and Elizabeth Wertenberger, both of Taunton. He was the grandfather of Christine Kelley, Annie Martin-Cortez and Frederick Martin; and the great- grandfather of Willow and River Kelley. He was brother of the late John and Carlie White.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Annunciation of the Lord Church on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in St Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00-8:00PM in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton.
