View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FAIRHAVEN – M. Caroline (Lucas) Paiva, 88, of Alden Road, formerly of Sycamore Street, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Alden Court. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Ludvino and Anucicao (Santos) Lucas, she was the wife of the late Norman Paiva, Sr.
Mrs. Paiva worked as a stitcher for many years for Arista Sportswear, retiring in 1962. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU). She was a member of Saint Mary’s Church in Fairhaven and enjoyed activities with her family and grandchildren.
She leaves one son, Norman Paiva, Jr., and his wife Jane of North Dartmouth, MA; two daughters, Natalie Rogers and her husband Carl of New Bedford and Beverly J. Paiva of Fairhaven; a sister, Emily Costa of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Paiva was the mother of the late Carol A. Jacobs and the grandmother of one late grandson.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 7:45AM from THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, Massachusetts, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in Saint Mary’s Church, North Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 16, from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
