(Ditchey) Westgate, 52, of New Bedford, formerly of Fairhaven, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of William C. Westgate. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John J. and the late Lillian (Guimond) Ditchey, she grew up and lived most of her life in Fairhaven before moving to New Bedford in 1996. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven.
Mrs. Westgate was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and an EMT. She worked at Our Lady’s Haven, Sacred Heart Home and Bedford Village. She loved her cats and caring for people.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Westgate leaves a daughter, Courtney Marie Westgate of New Bedford and her fiancé, Eric Amaral of Dartmouth; a sister, Sharon Medeiros and her husband Louis of Georgia; a niece, Kimberly Roderigues and her husband Alex of Florida; and sister-in-laws, Patricia Pomfret and her husband Norman of Fairhaven, and Kathleen Roy and her husband Joseph of Acushnet.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007, at 9:00AM from the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven. Interment will follow the Mass in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00-5:00PM.
