View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON–Joseph L. R. "Ray" Riendeau, 78, died suddenly on Friday, January 4, 2008, in the New England Medical Center in Boston, after being stricken ill at his home. Born in Taunton, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Daigle) Riendeau, he was the devoted husband of Carol T. (Dumont) Riendeau, with whom he shared fifty-seven years of married life.
Mr. Riendeau received his education in the Taunton Public Schools and was employed by Texas Instruments for forty-one years, before retiring in 1991. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton. A former Cub Master of Pack 1 at the former Winslow Congregational Church in Taunton, he enjoyed woodworking in his retirement. He and his wife Carol enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska, Hawaii, and to Florida, where they wintered for a few years. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren, taking great pleasure in spending quality time with the grandchildren, playing video games and watching their many athletic competitions.
He was the father of Paul Riendeau and wife Donna of Raynham, Mark Riendeau and his wife Jane of Taunton, Scott Riendeau and his wife DeDe of Middleboro, and Brian Riendeau and his wife Lisa of Taunton. He was the grandfather of Beth, Amy, Eric, Adam and his wife Nicole, Brett and his fiancée Sarah Nickerson, Kyle, Alec, Demi, Ross, Davis and Sam Riendeau, and the great-grandfather of Jacob and Rylie Riendeau. He was the brother of Alice Poirier of CT and the late William Riendeau and Loretta Menard.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
