Wanda (Guzik) Newett

MARION – Wanda (Guzik) Newett, 91, formerly of Fairhaven, died Friday, February 15, 2008, after a long illness, at the Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Newett.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Peter and the late Annie (Sowa) Guzik, she lived most of her life in Fairhaven. Mrs. Newett was a stitcher and sample maker for thirty years at New Bedford Manufacturing until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Friends of the Elderly, enjoyed square dancing with her husband, and later line-dancing at the Acushnet Council on Aging.

She is survived by a son, Robert E. Newett of Fairhaven; two daughters, Barbara A. Soucy of East Freetown and Patricia Laflamme and her husband David of Fairhaven; a sister, Cecelia Bowden of Marion; a brother, Stephen A. Guzik of Miami Beach, FL; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be at 10:00AM Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven followed by interment in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
