Dorothy M. Beilefeld

Dorothy M. (Magoon) Bielefeld, 86, of New Bedford died Monday, November 20, 2006 after a brief illness St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford. She was the wife of Richard E. Bielefeld.

Born in Somerset, the daughter of the late J.E.Magoon, Jr. and the late Bertha (Harrison) Magoon, she grew up in Dartmouth and settled in New Bedford in 1945. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in New Bedford.

Mrs. Bielefeld was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and St. Luke's School of Nursing. She was Head Registered Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital from 1955-1968 and prior to that worked private duty. She later retired from Sacred Heart Nursing Home. She was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 3196, New Bedford, a member of the St. Hedwig Seniors and the St. Luke's Alumni.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Richard E. Bielefeld, Jr. and his wife Diane of Dartmouth; two brothers, J.E. Magoon, III of Springhill, FL and Wesley Magoon of Wareham; two grandchildren, Kristy Lynn Ward of Acushnet and Richard G. Bielefeld of Juneau, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford followed by interment in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 PM.
