NEW BEDFORD – Karen E. Elliott, 62, of Fairhaven, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 23, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Born in Medford, MA, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Kittie (Holland) Elliott of Falmouth. She grew up in Medway and was a graduate of Medway High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College. Karen also spent time summering with her family in Falmouth and settled in Fairhaven in 1972 where she was a school teacher for thirty-six years, mostly at the Oxford School, until her retirement at age 57. Karen was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church in Fairhaven where she was a deacon and a member of the choir. She volunteered as a mentor for DMR and loved spending time with her dog Reggie. In addition to her parents she is survived by her sister, Kim Barrett and her husband John of Falmouth; two nieces, Kristin Regan and her husband Scott and their daughter, Bailey of Framingham; and Andrea Barrett of San Diego, CA. Karen was the sister of the late Keith Elliott. Funeral InformationCalling hours will be held Monday, April 27, 2009, from 5:00-8:00PM in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 11:00AM in the First Congregational Church, 32 Center St., Fairhaven. Cremation will follow.
