RAYNHAM / TAUNTON – Joseph J. Amaral, 56, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008, in the Boston Medical Center, after battling liver cancer since July. Born in Taunton, the son of the late Manuel and Eleanor (Carey) Amaral, he was the husband of Mary V. (Wirtanen) Amaral of Raynham.

A resident of Raynham for the past thirteen years, Mr. Amaral was educated in the Middleboro Public Schools and was employed for over thirty years as a union glazier. At the time of his death, he was employed at Cardinal Window Systems in NH. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating and tinkering in his garage, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Rachel Amaral and Rebecca Amaral, both of Raynham, and Stephanie Amaral of Skowhegen, ME. He was the brother of Betty Sylvia and her husband Karl of Lakeville, Pat Bettencourt and her husband Fran of Middleboro and George Amaral and his wife Debbie of Oxford, MA; and was the uncle of several.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the First Congregational Church of Raynham (the Stone Church) in Raynham Center, MA, Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 2:00PM. Visiting hours will be held in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Friday, October 3, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00PM.
