View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – James Francis Maguire, 84, died in Taunton on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Born in Taunton, the son of the late John and Annie (Welsh) Maguire and step-son of the late Grace (Greenlaw) Maguire, he was the husband of the late Beatrice (Meunier) Maguire.
Educated in the Taunton Public Schools, Mr. Maguire graduated with the Class of 1941 of Taunton High School. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps, assigned to the 421 Night Fighter (Black Widow) Squadron in the Pacific. A lifelong resident of Taunton, Mr. Maguire worked for many years for the Prudential Insurance Company, and was named man of the year for the northeastern region in 1963. He later was a self-employed real estate agent. Mr. Maguire was a member of the Rotary Club and the VFW. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton.
Mr. Maguire was the father of Donna Maguire of Taunton, Annemarie Maguire and her husband William E. Schuerch of Washington, DC, and James Maguire and his wife Angela Maguire of Scottsdale, AZ; the longtime companion of Celia Witherell of Taunton; the grandfather of Alexander and Allison Maguire of Scottsdale, AZ; the brother of Robert Maguire and Anna Maguire, both of Mattapoisett, and the late Eileen Morrissette, Mary McNulty, Estelle Wenho, E. Elouise McBee, and John and Edward Maguire.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral on Friday, January 11, 2008, at 10:00AM from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 11:00AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
