View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Robert J. Banks, 63, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, after a long illness. He was the husband of Louise M. (St. Amand) Banks of New Bedford. Born in Newton, MA, the son of the late Anna Louise (Moir) Atkinson, he grew up in Maine where he graduated from Waldoboro High School and the Maine Maritime Academy.
A twenty-six year resident of Fall River prior to relocating to New Bedford twelve years ago, Mr. Banks was a truck driver for Batesville Casket Company before his illness. Prior to that he had worked for Providence Steamboat and as a deck officer for American Export Isbrandtsen Lines. He loved watching movies and working with computers, growing plants and spending time with his cats.
He is survived by his wife, Louise.
Funeral Information
