Clarence "Jay" Jolivet

SOMERSET, MA – Clarence "Jay" Jolivet, 93, of Somerset, died on Flag Day, Monday, June 14, 2010, at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Hormidis and Agnes (St. Laurent) Jolivet, he was the husband of Doris (Ernst) Niejadlik-Jolivet.

A graduate of the former Prevost High School in Fall River, who then served his country during WWII with the United States Army, earning the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, Jay worked, after the War, as a baker for several bakeries in the area. He also worked as the baker for the former Coachmen Restaurant in Tiverton for many years.

Jay was an avid bowler and at one time involved in several different leagues. He also enjoyed golfing and over the years had shot two holes in one.

In addition to his wife, Jay is survived by a brother, Norman Jolivet and his wife Marilyn of Somerset, MA; a sister, Loretta Synnott of Palm Harbor, FL; a step-son, John Niejadlik of Boca Raton, FL; two step-daughters, Joan Britland of Swansea, MA, and Joyce Doucette of Franklin, MA. He himself was the step-son of the late Gloria (Moreau) Jolivet and brother of the late Irene Perreira, Alice Marchand and Leo Jolivet. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Memorial visitation for Mr. Jolivet will be held Thursday, June 24, 2010, from 9:00 to 10:00 am in the HATHAWAY COMMUNTIY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, followed by a Memorial Service with Military Honours at 11:00 am in Saint Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Internment will be private.
