James E. Carter, 94, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Taunton Nursing Home. James was born in Clinchfield, VA, son of the late Lucien and Maude (Street) Carter. He served his country with the United States Army during WWII after which time he settled in MA and started a family with his wife, the late Rita (Beaulieu) Carter.
James was self-employed as a Metal Spinner for many years and his favorite thing to do was to bowl, he was an active 10 pin bowler until he was 89 years old.
Survivors include his sister Lena Herald of Princeton, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Jason Brown, Barbara Mosher and Suzanne Smith; four great grandchildren: Joshua and Meghan Brown, Joseph and Jonathan Smith; four great-great grandchildren: Joel and Cole Hibbard, Noah Brown, and Matthew Smith. He was the father of the late Linda Brown.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017, at 9:30am, in the Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow with Military Honors in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton.
Calling hours will be Sunday September 10, 2017, from 4 to 6 pm, in the funeral home.
