Joseph A. DeNardo

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA – Joseph A. DeNardo, 88, of Gross Point Road, Savannah, Georgia, and formerly of Swansea, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Buckingham South Assisted Living Center in Savannah, GA. Born in Fall River, MA, a son of the late George W. & Rosalina ( Barbosa) DeNardo, he was the husband of Collette (Berube) DeNardo.

Mr. DeNardo was a plant manager for the Semesta Manufacturing Company for over thirty-eight years, before he became the owner/operator of the Bobee–Jo Manufacturing Company which he operated for over ten years.

He was a 1st Lt. in the U. S. Army Air Force during WWII, serving as a Bombardier, completing over sixty-four combat missions, responsible for locating, identifying, and bombing enemy installations. After the war he served in the U. S. Air Force Reserves where he attained the rank of Captain.

A resident of Savannah for the past ten years, after relocating from Swansea, Mr. DeNardo was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, now the St. Francis of Assisi Church, in Swansea. He was also a member of the Fall River Country Club.

Besides his wife, he survived by two sons, Robert DeNardo of Swansea and Joseph A. DeNardo of Somerset MA; a daughter, Elizabeth Fox of Savannah, GA; a sister, Madeline DiSano of Jacksonville, Florida; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George DeNardo.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be held Friday, February 26, 2010, at 8:30am from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Louis De France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea, with burial with full Military Honors to be held in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Thursday, February 25, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm in the funeral home.
