Jeanne I. (Banville) Sullivan

ASSONET - Jeanne I. (Banville) Sullivan, 81, of Assonet, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at home. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Lucien & Aurore (Masson) Banville, she was the wife of the late John E. Sullivan, to whom she was married for more than sixty-three years before he died in February of this year.
Mrs. Sullivan, a graduate with the Class of 1945 of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, was a homemaker. A resident of Assonet for more than fifty-two years, originally from Fall River, she was a former parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Fall River and a parishioner of St. Bernard's Church in Assonet, where she was a member of St. Bernard's Women's Guild. She enjoyed sewing, making afghans which she donated to charity, crocheting, cooking, and watching birds. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and family.
She is survived by a son, The Rev. Paul M. Sullivan, S.J., of Storrs, Connecticut; a daughter, Barbara J. Sullivan of Somerset; a friend and caregiver, Linda Valley of Somerset; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Sullivan of Halifax, MA; two grandchildren, Erin Casey and her husband Adam of Whitman, MA, and Elizabeth Sullivan of Halifax, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the step-daughter of the late John Dunnier and the mother of the late David T. Sullivan. She was the sister of the late Edmond Banville and also the late Eddie L. Banville.
The Sullivan family would like to thank the Catholic Memorial Home and their staff for all their ongoing care of Mrs. Sullivan over the years.
Her funeral will be held Monday, May 4, 2009, at 8:30AM from THE HATHAWAY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Bernard's Church, 32 South Main St., Assonet. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours with Video Photo Album will be held Sunday, May 3, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
