TIVERTON, RI – Donald H. Lake, 81, of Lawton Avenue in Tiverton, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007, surrounded by his family at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Harry G. and Doris (Hastie) Lake, he was the husband Ethel (Westcott) Lake.

Mr. Lake graduated with the Class of 1943 at BMC Durfee High School in Fall River. Following graduation, he served his country during WWII with the United States Army. After the war, he worked for Narragansett Electric as a distribution engineer for forty-two years before retiring several years ago. He was a life member of the Central Baptist Church in Tiverton. Mr. Lake was a Mason and a member of the former Eureka Lodge (now the Saint John’s Lodge AF & AM) in Portsmouth. He was a past president of the Tiverton High School Sports Boosters, a former board member of Hillside Cemetery, and a member of the Stone Bridge Water & Fire District. He also belonged to the Tiverton Yacht Club bowling league and was a volunteer firefighter for the Stone Bridge Fire Department. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lake is survived by two daughters, Susan W. Soares and Deborah A. Morgan, both of Tiverton; two sons, Stephen G. Lake of Portsmouth, RI, and Douglas H. Lake of Westport, MA; a sister, Priscilla Anthony of Portsmouth, RI; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, David, Ana, Mary, Ryan, Nicholas, Allison; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at 11:00AM in the First Baptist (Old Stone Church), Stone Church Rd., Tiverton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, by going directly to the Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00-8:00PM in the HATHAWAY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA.
