NEW BEDFORD – Aanen Olsen, 85, of Fairhaven, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, after a brief illness. He was the companion of fifty years of the late Alice E. Rinfret. Born in Aakehamn, Karmoy, Norway, the son of the late Elias and the late Hanna (Lervik) Olsen, he came to New Bedford in 1952 and settled in Fairhaven over thirty years ago. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. Mr. Olsen served as a captain on various area fishing vessels including the Poseidon, the Prowler and the Sharon-Noreen. He was a member of the United Fisherman’s Union, the Star in the East Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M., and enjoyed meeting with his Norwegian fishing friends at Fort Phoenix in the mornings and later his friends at The Pasta House and the Huttleston House in the afternoons. He was the brother of the late Ole and Henry Olsen and is survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral InformationHis funeral will be Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at 10:00AM at the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
