BOSTON – Janice C. (Pacheco) Benoit, RN, 60, of Fairhaven, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness. Born in Dartmouth she was the daughter of Ida (Alphonse) Pacheco of Fairhaven and the late Abel Pacheco, she was the wife of Frederick J. Benoit, with whom she shared a forty year marriage.

She lived most of her life in Fairhaven where she graduated from Fairhaven High School and later Bristol Community College in Fall River. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven. Janice was a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford from the early 1990s until 2000. She loved her work and enjoyed taking continuing education courses, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and her mother, she is survived by two sons, Frederick J. Benoit, Jr., and his companion Maria Vieira of New Bedford, and Matthew J. Benoit and his wife Caroline of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Eric, Kaitlyn, Timothy and Jenna Benoit; two sisters, Kathleen Yousif and Ida Jean Souza, both of Fairhaven, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Friday, March 12, 2010, at 9:00 AM from THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven, with interment in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 11, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM.
