Aura F. (Mendonca) Pacheco

SOMERSET, MA – Aura F. (Mendonca) Pacheco, 80, of Somerset, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in the Azores, the daughter of the late Jose and Odelia (Franco) Mendonca, she was the wife of Charles Pacheco, with whom she shared a sixty-one year marriage.
A 1947 graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, Mrs. Pacheco went on to attend the Thibodeaus Business School, also located at the time in Fall River. Mrs. Pacheco worked in the garment industry in Fall River for fifteen years as a machine operator. Later she worked for the former Sackets Card Store in Swansea as a cashier and also for the former Grants Store in Somerset, retiring several years ago.
Aura was a communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church in Somerset. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Fort Myers, Florida, taking bus trips and going to the Bahamas.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pacheco leaves a sister, Emma Tavares of Swansea, MA. She was the sister-in-law of Edward and Norma Pacheco of Carver, MA; as well as the aunt of Joanne Raposa of Swansea, Diane Haley of Plymouth, MA, Sandra Lee Sanderson of Plymouth, MA, Linda J. White of Carver, MA, Edward Pacheco of Plymouth, Timothy Pacheco and Larry Tavares, both of Jacksonville, FL, and Michael Tavares of Dighton, MA. She was the mother of the late Donna Lee Pacheco and the grandmother of the late Jaime, Kerry, Ryan and Beth.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 10:00AM in Saint Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, with burial to follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours are omitted.
