View Tribute and Sign Guestbook ATTLEBORO – Derio M. Pavoni, 80, of Redwood Drive, Attleboro, died on Saturday, October 20, 2007, in Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. He was the husband of J. Sybil (Dean) Pavoni, to whom he was married forty-five years.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, above the Bocci Club which his father owned, a son of the late Enrico and Annita (DelLargo) Pavoni, he lived most of his life in Attleboro. He had served with the U.S. Navy during WW II and received the Purple Heart.
Mr. Pavoni was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro, and was famous for serving his chicken dinners at the church, as well as at the Hebron United Methodist Church. He had been a chef at the Bocci Club in Woonsocket for many years; later he operated Dario’s Marconi Club of West Mansfield, MA, until 1960, and later was the Head Chef at Don’s Diner in Plainville, MA, the Sturdy Memorial Hospital, and the Twin Lanterns of Foxboro, MA. Derio was a member of the Attleboro Elks Lodge #1014, the Woonsocket Elks Club, the Moose Club of Attleboro and a 1972 graduate of Dale Carnegie.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Richard A. Pavoni of Oxford, MA, and John R. Pavoni of Lake County, CA; one daughter, Virginia D. and her husband Gary S. McKinstry of Dudley, MA; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Henry Pavoni and Mary Tavener.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Calling Hours on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, in THE FOLEY-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 126 South Main St. (Route 152), Attleboro, MA, from 4:00 to 8:00PM. His funeral and burial with full military honors in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
