William E. Banker, 70, of North Dartmouth died Thursday, June 1, 2006 in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford after a long illness. He was the husband of Jean C. (Carpenter) Banker.
Born in Boston, the son of the late William and the late Mary (Blessington) Banker, he grew up in the city and graduated from Boston Latin High School. Mr. Banker lived in Rochester, NY for 24 years before coming to Dartmouth 5 years ago. He received his BA from M.I.T. and his MA from Northeastern University.
Mr. Banker was a chemical engineer for Coopervision in Rochester, NY and after retirement drove for the Tremblay Bus Co. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, board games and traveling. He loved game shows and appeared on “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. He and his wife also enjoyed Summering on the Cape.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Kenyon Banker of Ballston Spa, NY; two daughters, Coreen B. Gorbett of Murfreesboro, Tenn. And Hilary C. Banker of Buffalo, NY; four grandchildren, Kellen and Aleia Gorbett and Ryan and Mackenzie Banker.

Funeral Information

His memorial will be Saturday from 1-2 PM concluding with a service at 2 PM in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
