View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Josephine (Francis) Shaw, 91, of Amity Street in Fall River formerly of Angell Street passed away Monday, May 8, 2006 at the Southpointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fall River. She was the wife of the late John F. Shaw Sr. Born in Tiverton, RI on April 15, 1915 the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Raposa) Francis, she worked as a machine operator for the former Belle Manufacturing and Schniersons Manufacturing and other shops in the garment industry in Fall River for over eighteen years before retiring in 1974. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fall River, the Saint Williams Women's guild, International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Bristol County Chapter of Mass Senior Action, member of the Amalgamate Clothing and Textile Workers Union UNITE.
Survivors are two daughters Karen Pietrzyk of Taunton, MA Janice Golden of Fall River, MA a son John F. Shaw Jr. of Taunton, MA a brother Antone Francis of Fall River, MA six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Olivia Rocha, Mary Braz, and Joseph Francis.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 10am from the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church 15 Thomas Street., Fall River., Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery Fall River. Calling hours with a video photo album are Thursday, May 11, 2006 from 4-7pm.
