View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Edith (Dakin) Faber, 88, of Fairhaven, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Faber. Born and reared in Acushnet, the daughter of the late John and the late Mary (Tomlinson) Dakin, she lived in New Bedford prior to living in Interlacken, FL, for twenty-nine years before returning to the area and settling in Fairhaven in 1999. She was a member of the Acushnet Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Faber worked in the textile industry for many years prior to becoming a nurse’s aide while in Florida where she retired in 1985.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Westgate and her companion Paul Wylie of Fairhaven and Pamela Lima and her husband Gilly of Dartmouth; a son, Arthur Barber and his companion Mary Geary of Raynham; three stepsons, Edward Ryan and his wife Sandra of Clovis, CA, Michael Faber and his wife Joyce of Punta Gorda, FL, and Daniel Faber and his wife Anne of Dartmouth; a daughter-in-law, Jane Faber of Miami, FL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Faber was the stepmother of the late Partrick Faber and the sister of the late Wilfred, John and Leslie Dakin, Dorris Denham, Rosetta Karwoski and Hazel Thompson.
Funeral Information
Her calling hours will be Monday, May 24, 2010, from 4:00-8:00 PM in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford. Cremation will follow and interment will be private.
