FAIRHAVEN – Thomas Sears, 75, of South Dartmouth, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Crumley) Sears. Born in Providence, RI, the son of the late Peter and the late Mary Elizabeth (Lee) Sears, he grew up in Rhode Island and settled in Dartmouth in 1961. He was a member of the South Primitive Methodist Church in New Bedford.

Mr. Sears served in the U. S. Air Force from November, 1956, to March, 1961, and later worked at the Lessona Paint Shop for twenty-seven years until his retirement.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas James Sears and his wife Marcy of Livermore, CA, and James Franklin Sears and his wife Kelley of Dartmouth; a daughter, Monica Elizabeth Cardoza and her husband Aaron of New Bedford; a brother, Henry Sears of Johnston, RI; eight grandchildren, Michael Sears, Taylor and Christian Cardoza, Olivia, Benjamin, Avery, Nicholas and Nathan Sears; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sears was the brother of the late Peter, Francis “Mike” Sears and Jeannette Jordan.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be held Monday, March 8, 2010, at 10:00AM in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by interment in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
