Swansea—Ernest R. DiBiasio, 84, passed away June 5 surrounded by family at the Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley (Duquette) DiBiasio.
Born in Providence, RI, a son of the late Rinaldo DiBiasio and the late Jennie (Campanella) DiBiasio, he had lived in Swansea since 1961. He worked as an agent of John Hancock Insurance for 42 years. Active in the community, he volunteered and served as a board member of the Swansea Ambulance Corps since 1968. He served as a scout master for Troop 26 of the Boy Scouts for 25 years, was involved with the Catholic Committee on Scouting for 30 years and volunteered for the Red Cross in Fall River for 25 years teaching first aid and CPR courses. He was also a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Swansea.
Mr. DiBiasio was also a Korean War, Army Veteran and a graduate of Johnson & Wales.
Besides his wife he is survived by 11 children, Diane DiBiasio and her husband Bruce Terzian of Dedham, David and Jane DiBiasio of Seekonk, Deirdre and Daniel Keighley of Swansea, Donna Rand of Swansea, Doreen DiBiasio-Erwin of Mansfield, Donald and Michelle DiBiasio of Somerset, Daniel and Karen DiBiasio of Davis, CA, Dana and Kathy DiBiasio of Fairhaven, Douglas DiBiasio and wife Maura Sullivan of Swansea, Dennis DiBiasio of CT, and Denise Hoyt of Fall River; three sisters, Pauline Forlingieri, Hilda Sabatino and her husband Matthew, and Eileen DiBiasio; a sister-in-law, Barbara Dreyer; 29 grandchildren, 14 great grand children and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Anthony DiBiasio and Anita DiBiasio; and father-in-law of the lateTimothy Rand.
Family will receive visitors beginning at 9AM on Friday, June 16th in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Gardner’s Neck Road, Swansea, with a memorial mass to be held there at 10.
