FALL RIVER – Roland A. Paradise, 87, of Fall River, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at his residence. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Romeo and Eva (Tessier) Paradise, he was the husband of Annette (Parent) Paradise and the late Marion (Colyar) Paradise.

Mr. Paradise served his country during WWII with the United States Army National Guard and the 241st Coast Artillery. He was stationed with the Harbor Defense of Boston and was sent to Texas for training in field artillery and then went onto Europe. Roland took part in three major battles he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with three stars. He served in England Scotland, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Czechoslovakia.

After his discharge from the service he returned to school and later became an instructor of painting & decorating at Diman Regional Technical Vocation High School. Later he took a teaching position at Upper Cape Cod Regional Vocational for five years. He then worked at Plymouth Regional Vocational Tech until his retirement in 1985.

In addition to his wife. Mr. Paradise is survived by his two daughters, Simone T. Meyer of Fairhaven, MA, and Janice C. Robidoux of Assonet, MA; two brothers, Edward T. Paradise of California and Maurice Paradise of Texas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was the brother of the late Anita Chase and Albert Paradise.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be held Friday, 23 October 2009, at 10:00AM in Holy Trinity Parish, 951 Stafford Rd., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend directly to the Church. Burial with Military Honours will be in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 22, from 4:00-7:00PM in the HEBERT-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 945 S.
