View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Gail E. M. (Hirst) Glossop of New Bedford passed away at the age of 67 with her devoted husband, Paul R. Glossop and family members at her bedside in St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford after a courageous battle with a brain tumor.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Robert and the late Jane (Singleton) Hirst, she was a lifelong resident of the city and graduate of New Bedford High School Class of 1957.
She was an avid bowler, bowling in two leagues a week. She loved going to Foxwoods and traveling. Her genuine, loyal disposition, giving ways and beautiful smile gave her a multitude of friends. To know her was to love her. Mrs. Glossop was a lifelong member of the People's Christian Church. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to church with her so they too could share her faith. She devoted her life to her family and was an outstanding wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She left a world of love behind.
Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years; her two children, Kathy L. Duarte and David P. Glossop; her sisters, Gloria Lenling, Connie Fournier and Betty Westberg; her brothers, Leonard Hirst and Robert Hirst; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Kara, Madison, Mason and Gage. She was the sister of the late James Hirst.
Funeral Information
Her funeral service will be Friday, June 30, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford followed by interment in Acushnet Cemetery. Calling hours with Memorial Video Tribute will be Thursday, June 27, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM.
