We live in a world full of variety and change. The same holds true for funeral and memorial services. We will work with you to arrange meaningful and personalized services. Sometimes a more traditional funeral with a few special touches like memory boards and a remembrance video is the best choice for you. Other times it may feel more meaningful to throwing a party in a favorite place while ceremonially scattering the crematory remains of a loved one. Whichever your preference, we have options for you and your loved ones.
Traditions and ritual can help get you through a time of tragedy and pain. A familiar hymn and a service of communion or Eucharist in a church setting can make all the difference in the world. At the same time, we recognize that some traditions become limitations. Our hope is that we can provide you with opportunities to uniquely express a meaningful remembrance. Let us help you organize services which will hold meaning, comfort and hope for those who attend.
We encourage you to make a funeral as personal and meaningful as possible. Often this means bringing personal items to the funeral home and placing them on display. Memorabilia of clubs, organizations, or special events can help friends and family remember and know your loved one.

The Funeral Ark helps to bridge the gap between cremation and a traditional service. This furniture-quality carrier allows for a dignified and beautiful presentation of an urn or cremation memorial. It also allows for family and friends to serve as bearers when going from the funeral home to a church or cemetery.
Hathaway Family Funeral Homes is the only funeral provider in Southeast New England to offer this service.
This special scattering urn is made of pressed paper and has a plain white surface on the top. As a gesture of love, friends and family each took turns placing a personal message on the urn as part of the service. They then took this down to the harbor area where their lost loved one had spent many enjoyable summers and cast the urn upon the waters. The urn and cremated remains soon sank below the surface and the container disintegrated within a few days. This made for a more peaceful and graceful form of scattering.
This option is environmentally safe.
Cremation provides many other alternatives for commemoration of a loved one, including jewelry, keepsakes, miniature urns and scattering urns. Here are some examples of the many options available.
